Li Bingjie, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Hebei who came to attention with speedy swims when she was 13, tested the 8:20 mark over 800m freestyle for her second distance title on the penultimate day at Chinese Championships and the 13th National Games in Qingdao. On a day when Li Zhuhao, 18, dominated the 100m butterfly in 51.63 and Xu Jiayu produced the highlight of semi-finals with a world-ranks topping 24.42 national record in the 50m backstroke, Li sliced more than seven seconds off her personal best over 16 laps for an 8:20.89 triumph
