Vollmer Rallies to Catch Title in 100 Butterfly

At the start of the week, Dana Vollmer looked troubled. She didn’t have a strong showing in the 100 freestyle, missing out on qualification for the World Championships on both an individual and relay level. When she was done with the 100 butterfly at the United States National Championships, however, she looked like the Vollmer we know well.

Women’s 100 fly is going to be tight in Barcelona. It’s not impossible that a gold medal will be claimed with the time of a full second slower than Vollmer did in London.
