Canada flew south for a summer relays mission at World Junior titles in Indianapolis and this evening celebrated its finest outing at world juniors with seven gold medals, Taylor Ruck playing a part in six of those victories to emerge the hauler of the meet after she followed 200m freestyle victory and a title retained in championship-record time with a World Junior Record with medley teammates.

Ruck gathered golds (six – and one silver for seven in all – and four world junior records in that relay count) like a manic gardener of Maple leaves on a blustery day in autumn. The teenager helped Canada to gold in all women’s relays – the 4×100 and 4x200m free in the bag before today in the bag before the medley today – and both mixed relays, the 4x100m free and medley. She also set a world junior record in the semis of the 100m backstroke before claiming silver in the final inside the old mark but just shy of American Regan Smith. There were also championship records for Ruck over 100 as well as 200m freestyle.
