Margherita Panziera had barely stopped smiling from becoming the first Italian woman ever to break the minute over 100m backstroke, with a 59.96 leading GS Fiamme Oro Roma’s 4x100m medley quartet to victory yesterday at nationals in Riccione than she faced the superstar who had been trying to get there before her: Federica Pellegrini. The racer will out: 1:00.03, half a second off her best to get past Panziera for the solo crown.
