Many a 100m race, you just can’t tell ’til its done. Not this one. Caeleb Dressel left his blocks like a bat out of hell, bolted down the Duna Arena pool to a 22.31 split feet on the wall and built a winning margin on the way home to a 47.17sec victory that fell just shy of the biggest winning margin in the history of two-lap battles back to 1973. Nathan Adrian gives USA a 1-2 finish, with Mehdy Metella taking bronze for France

Amazing start, and last 10 metres where he pulled away from the rest. Hugely improved from last year.
