The opening night of finals at the British Championships in Sheffield was likely to be a tale of one star outshining all others, what with Adam Peaty heading to his blocks for the 100m breaststroke final after a 58.5 in heats but his Loughborough University teammates Imogen Clark and Sarah Vasey were the first to give notice: Mel Marshall’s troops were ready to rumble. Both went under the national record to give Loughborough a 1-2 finished on 30.21 and 30.30 in the 50m breaststroke
