The first sub-59sec Commonwealth podium is in the pantheon: Canada’s world champion and record holder Kylie Masse led the way – by just 0.03sec ahead of Emily Seebohm, 58.63 to 58.66, the Australian blocked in her bid to become the first to claim three successive 100m crowns. The bronze went to Canada, too – on 58.97, Taylor Ruck collected her second medal within half an hour after joint silver in the 50m free.
