Having taken down the Swiss record over 200IM this year, Jeremy Desplanches just cracked his own 400IM medley mark, too, with a 4:13.11 almost 11sec ahead of next man home at French nationals in Strasbourg. It was the swim of day two at a meet that is exposing continued weakness in ranks of swimming in France: a nation that boasted another of coach Fabrice Pellerin’s Nice swimmers, Yannick Agnel, on top of the Olympic world just five years ago may have no men’s 4x200m freestyle team on the blocks at world titles in Budapest come July.
