Haley Anderson retained the 5km world title in Kazan today

History repeated itself at the start of the 16th World Championships in Kazan today when Haley Anderson gave the USA the same golden start she afforded her team at Barcelona in 2013: victory in the 5km off the Kazanka River embankment in 58mins 48.4sec; the men’s 5km crown broke made history – Chad Ho became the first South African winner of the title in 55:17.6
