Happy 21st Birthday Katie Ledecky, Pioneer Of The Pool Who Came Of Aquatic Age At 15

Epic - Katie Ledecky - by Patrick B. Kraemer

Katie Ledecky celebrates her 21st birthday today. In the pool, she came of age long ago: it will be six years this July since she claimed Olympic 800m free gold at London 2012, four years before the first and only other 200-400-800m Olympic triple gold since Debbie Meyer opened that account in 1968. There was gold in the 4x200m free as well. Here, beyond news that she added a 15:07.57 win to her vault over 1650 yards at  the short-course NCAA Championships today, are a few notes and reminders from the archive that speak to how special Ledecky is. Happy Birthday, Katie
