Federica Pellegrini, the 200-400m free specialist newly crowned world s/c champion over eight laps, clocked a 53.93 over 100m at the Italian Winter Open last weekend at the end of a year that saw her make progress to a new sprint career high of 53.18 back in June. By world titles in Budapest in July next year, she and coach Matteo Giunta hope to get the Italian star into the 52sec zone
