The Georges Vallerey pool in Paris will always be special to this author: it was the place, one fine sunny Saturday morning many ago in a largely empty media stand, where I sat down to have the first long conversation with the lady who would later accept my proposal of marriage. Merci, Georges. On that happy personal note, the latest news from the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) announces the Frenchman as one of seventeen honourees about to enter the Class of 2017 as a member of the club of Pioneers in the Pantheon
