For nearly 16 laps, Connor Jaeger and Michael McBroom raced stroke for stroke in the 800 freestyle, neither man wanting to allow the other any breathing room. Ultimately, though, it was Jaeger who created just enough of a gap to get to the wall first and take top honors in yet another distant event at the United States National Championships.
