Aussies Swift To Restore Pride With 7:05.97GR Ahead Of England, Scott & Scotland

Scot Duncan Scott muscles in on the big names he out-sprinted in the 100m free for an historic gold, before Chalmers joined mates to claim 4x200m gold, Scott back on the podium, too.

Australia ended the fourth day of the Games on a home high in the pool, pride lost in a 100m freestyle final in which Duncan Scott struck gold for Scotland for the first time in history restored with twin sweeps in two dash finals before a Games-record 7:05.97 victory in the men’s 4x200m freestyle. If Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers, held at bay by Scott in the 100m free, was second up for the Australians on his way to a silver and gold tally on the day, Scott went in second for Scotland and threw down a 1:44 scorcher of a gauntlet to Chalmers’ 1:46 as to rub salt in wounds on his way to a gold and bronze tally on the day, England taking silver in 7:08.57, the Tartan quartet on 7:09.89.
