Ariarne Titmus, breathing new life back into Australian distance swimming, claimed the distance double with one of the swims of the six days of racing as the swimming at the Commonwealth Games reached its last session:  4:00.93, an effort that shattered the Games record, the Australian record and logged the fastest Commonwealth eight-lap free ever seen in textile. England celebrated the minor spoils, Holly Hibbott on 4:05.31, Ellie Faulkner on 4:07.35.
