Having started the day in Sheffield with the 10th fastest effort of his career on 58.56, Adam Peaty pelted another bullet into the all-time 100m breaststroke ranking with a 57.79 scorcher – his fourth best 100m breaststroke effort ever behind the three whistlers that built a golden moment for the Olympic crown in world-record time last year. Day 1 of the British Championships at Ponds Forge and Peaty was the sole swimmer with an instant ticket to world titles in Budapest in July

It’s noticeable from the results and start lists, just how concentrated at certain centers talent is becoming in British swimming. It’s a pity we won’t get a full strength 4×100 medley to finish the championships. For the men at least it would be a tight 3-way race:
Bath: Walker-Hebburn, Attwood, Guy, Jarvis
Loughboro: Ellwood, Peatty, Greenbank, Barrett
Stirling: Boldison, Murdoch, Brodie, Scott
Loughboro have a fly problem which means Greenbank switches, but then they do have Peatty…
Who would your money be on Craig?

Craig Lord

Not a betting man, David – but Loughborough have a serious advantage with a certain 56 splitter 🙂
