What a day for the USA! Three golds, two of then involving Katie Ledecky, who followed up victory in the 400m freestyle with a celebration of sprinting with teammates in the 4x100m freestyle that delivered gold at the touch over Australia as Cate Campbell stood on deck for a broadcaster knowing that had things taken a different turn, she might well have been helping the Dolphins keep the crown. The USA men’s 4x100m free team won, too.
