Tim Wallburger snatched gold 4:06.22 to 4:06.42 over Marco Koch in a close battle in the first men’s finals at German s/c nationals in Wuppertal this afternoon for selection to the European Short-Course Championships next month; as did Theresa Michalak, on 4:35.76, and Alexandra Wenk, on 4:38.67, in the women’s straight final; there was also an age record for Leonie Antonia Beck, 16, the 1500m free champion in 15:56.32; Germany’s top title hope heading into Herning is Sfeffen Deibler, European No 1 over 50 and 100 ‘fly this season
