There goes French chance of not only gold, but any medal at all in both 4×100 and 4×200 free relays.

This is a very good news for Russia.

Aswimfan, Agnel performance in 4×100 at Barcelona was not very good (48.73). I believe like in 2013, Manaudou will play a big role, 48 flat should be fast enough. Indeed 3 other French swimmers are around 48.5: Matella, Gilot and Mignon. Though, great race between France and Russia!

Why do you say so, Aswimfan, for the 4×100? France held the fastest time in the world last year in LCM without Agnel. They won SCM worlds without Agnel.

France have depth. France have young and improving depth in Metella, Manaudou and Mignon. Never write off the French.

On a more important note, wishing a full recovery to Agnel as soon as possible!

Agnel,s absence will affect the French in the 4×200 free relay but not the 4×100 free relay.

No, 1960: your first comment went directly to spam, for some reason, so the rest automatically sit there awaiting approval.

Pneumonia is not the only thing that causes pleurisy. It can also be caused by a viral infection such as the flu or a fungal infection as well as some kinds of medications and chest injuries. Sometimes the Drs. just don’t know as was the case with me. I wish him well. It is not a pleasant thing to have since you can’t stop breathing.

Sad news. 100free champ out. Now 200free champ out.
I was really looking forward to Yannik’s performance mainly to see whether his french training base works well for him or not. I will be in doubt now.
I think the last time we saw him in 100% shape was in London which was 3yrs ago.
I hope we get to see at least 1-2 swimmers to dip under 1:45. Getting a world title with a 1:45 is like 100free title in 48,2.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Russia capitalises on all these absences and win the golds in both events

With the exception of Agnel’s London, it’s crazy that men 200 free is plateauing. Thorpe from 15 years ago would trash over the current m200 free crop.

It’s like the state of women 200 free from mid 90s to mid 2000s. with the exception of Van Almsick.
