Two years after 28 French swimmers raced in the pool at world titles in Kazan, just nine pool swimmers will represent France at the 2017 global gathering in Budapest from July 23-30 after Aurelie Muller set aside her qualification in the 1500m free after six days of trials in Strasbourg, her focus on defending the 10km crown in open water. That’s the view of French media today as in reports in anticipation of selectors sticking to a selection policy that left the nation looking at its smallest team at a World Championships since before we all got to know who Laure Manaudou was.
