Olympic champion and now European champion for the first time: Ranomi Kromowidjojo, the Dutch ace who will defend her crown in Rio in August, blasted a 24.07sec for victory. Silver went to the defending champion Fran Halsall (GBR) in 24.44, the bronze to Jeanette Ottesen (DEN) in 24.61

Halsall has been slower in the final than her semis swims (50 free/fly).

Kromowidjojo has been perfect: fast enough in semis to qualify fastest or among fastest and yet went even faster in the final (50/100 free).

Yes, Halsall’s final somewhat disappointing however, I still feel she’ll be in the final in Rio.

Ranomi certainly seems to be firing this year. At this point, she looks the most likely gate crasher of the AUS-SWE party in the 100 and whilst she’s never broken 24sec; this 24.07 clearly indicates she’s likely to give it a nudge.
