Lauren Boyle sped into the club of Kiwi women Commonwealth champions as the fifth member since 1930 with a Games record of 4:04.47 ahead of Jazz Carlin 4:05.16, Bronte Barratt 4:06.02 and Hannah Miley 4:06.21

I thought that was a really stupid program having the 400 the day after an 800 considering it was a 6 day meet…..Carlin looked very flat. Impressive week by Miley, she had a bloody tough program.


With the exception of Ye Shiwen, all the other top 400 IM contenders have crazy workload: Hosszu, Belmonte, Miley.

Will agree with Felix re the results of compacting the swimming schedule from the Olympic 7 days to 6. It certainly had impacts on a number of key competitors from major nations.

Outside Ye Shiwen; no woman has ever gone sub 4.30 in textile… Hosszu and Belmonte have a very realistic chance of doing so in view of their tough programmes…
