It was a no brainer really. Both Coaches Marsh and Bowman have incredible resume`s and will be head coaches at a time when Phelps writes his concluding chapter in Olympic swimming while Ledecky [coached by Bruce Gemmell, for those who don’t know, ED] will be out to rewrite history books in women freestyle swimming

Bowman has a lot on his plate now. What is the deal with the ASU training. Is Phelps training with the college team or do they have a separate elite group? I guess it worked well for Phelps in Michigan, but sometimes I worry the college season is incompatible with the pro schedule..

Ger

easyspeed, there is a separate post grad./pro group at ASU. Bowman talks about the college/pro situation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6C9zCiA52Q

Ger

With regard to assistant coaches, are these chosen by the the head coaches, or USA swimming, or both?

John Lohn

Ger, assistant coaches will be selected at the end of the Olympic Trials and will reflect those who had athletes with strong showings in Omaha.
