USA Swimming has announced that Chuck Wielgus is to retire as chief executive office of the American swimming federation at the end of August. By then, he will have been in the top job for 20 years and a month and overseen a period of commercial expansion, the delivery of USA Olympic Trials to heights new, the creation of the federation’s foundation, as well as the adoption of Safe Sport policies in the wake of an era when abuse went not only unchecked but, according to some victims, was covered up
