‘There is no doubt that the top end of pool competition has turned around for the better over the past few years in Australia and they can look forward to the Olympics with excitement, pride and a sense of accomplishment whatever the outcome.

‘Para-swimming’, which at its highest level is meant to be elite competitive swimming for athletes with disabilities, also falls under Mark Andersons’ leadership umbrella I am told.

Can Mr Anderson say then with all honesty that it’s all very ‘satisfying’ to look back over the last 12 months in para-swimming in Australia and that there is ‘alignment’ and ‘commitment’ at all levels from the board to the broader swimming community?

If so, then I must have been witness to an entirely different year in para-swimming in Australia.

The integrity and work ethics of his swimmers and staff is far more important than any projected Paralympic medal count. Luckily for Mr Anderson, the results in the Olympic pool look like being his good news bear this time around.
