Titles For Brendan Hyland & Gerry Quinn As Irish Nationals & Trials Start In Dublin

Brendan Hyland clocked 2:00.64 to win the 200m butterfly and provide the highlight of the first day at Irish Championships in Dublin, the meet serving at qualification trials for the Olympic Games in Rio in August and the European Championships in London two weeks from next Monday. Fiona Doyle, Shane Ryan and Nicholas Quinn are past the post for Rio, while 13 Irish swimmers have already made the grade for London 2016

Nice to see the home team getting a mention. For the Irish, the ultimate achievement has always been about making it to the Olympics, so hopefully one or two will put their hands up over the next few days.
