” (sport is supposed to be jolly good fun, fodder for the fan, the stuff of heroes and human exploit not more of the intrigue and digging in the deep of human frailty)”

Indeed, but sport is not just being brought down into the dirt by the actions of these corrupt low-life specimens, it is having its face defiantly blackened by that dirt because the perpetrators are arrogant enough to think they can continue, and are entitled to continue, in their privileged positions.

Very well awarded. Courage? Let’s add resilience, perseverance, tenacity, and a host more of the qualities necessary to continuously and persistently dig away at the institutions and estates that pervade the modern world in this way.

“Never once an official acknowledgement …” That speaks volumes about the people still in position. Still convincing themselves that they are “serving the sport” and still able to convince their electorate that they are doing so, or that they should continue to perform the illusion that they are doing so.

Voices in the wilderness eventually get heard. Loudly.
