This guy … every time he opens his mouth you don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

When Sun failed to show up for the 1500 free final in Kazan I was very upset. I wanted to see the great battle between him, Paltrinieri and the others. I know that Gregorio was thrown completely off balance by that empty block, and C. Jaeger too. I hope he had a very good reason, but the heart ache thing does not convince me much, to be honest. It was a surreal final.

FINA needs a complete overhaul, how can you take them seriously? They are not only not on the same page , they are not even reading the same book!

I was upset when Mack Horton didn’t line up for the 1500m final…but that was another story.

There was also the bit about another swim blogging site turning up evidence that the Mexican federation had just entirely made up entry times for Kazan for about 80% of their World Championships delegation (they had missed a deadline to send their international B team to WUGs and the federation wanted to still send them somewhere as a consolation prize for not making the Pan Ams squad) and even their athletes in Russia admitted they’d never come close to those times.

Marculescu’s response was that the idea of A &B standards didn’t really mean anything and that there was no problem at all with a federation fabricating entry times for a World Championships wholesale.

Yes, beachmouse, I’m keeping that one for another time, soon: another very clear violation of FINA rules that dovetails into other specific parallel examples.

When you’re at the point when you don’t even care anymore and don’t put any effort into improving your sport, then it’s time to step down, Mr. Marculescu.

I would not buy a used car from this man.
