Sounds like a tech suit to me. With Adidas also recently unveiling it’s latest suit recently, I worry that the suits are once again becoming too much of a factor.

Bad Anon

When suits are launched this far out from the games its definitely better than say a month before ; in rome ’09 the full extent of those suits were seen at a major championship and records became meaningless ; 47,50 became very pedestrian in the men’s 100free; now in textile 48.00 is a tough barrier. Let swimmers with the best technique ; not best suit win!!

Jorge Abril

Let’s get back to underpants!

Eugene

Does “Ys” element stand for Sun Yang******? 😀

Eugene

Hmmm, just noticed “Sy” in the third row.

Gin Ichi

Eugene, I think Ys imply Ye Shiwen, Sy imply Sun Yang……

Craig Lord

Not imply, Gin, it is so with Ye Sh, a Speedo-sponsored swimmer but among those not in New York for the launch. SY is not specifically sponsored by Speedo; China swimming is, until 2017, though of late all equipment bears the brand the CSA’s headline brand, which is not a worldwide swimming kit maker.

Gin Ichi

Craig, both Ye and Sun had attend the Speedo photo shoot at Montenegro after Worlds. And look at Speedo Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/-l0GfNiON9/ I think Sun count as a Speedo team member.

Craig Lord

Yes, thanks, quite so, Gin… just that he is not listed in a team Speedo list I have and the China section of Team Speedo is… empty.

Gin Ichi

Craig, I think Speedo choose Ye and Sun as swimmer representing them at China(or Asia), but didn’t include them on the international stage. The Speedo team photo you put on the top one, China got another version Sun and Ye standing at center.

Craig Lord

Thank you for that, Gin. Speedo also manufacture in China, of course.

£285 for a pair of jammers! Think I’ll pass…

Water drop Water drop

Why is that all the para athletes from team speedo have been so overlooked in this?? They have been selected for Team speedo due to there achievements but yet don’t even get a mention anywhere? No interviews anywhere? They are as much a part as the Olympic swimmers!
Paralympic medalist, world record holders, world champions.. The list goes on!!
It’s a bit sad to see!!

Craig Lord

Water drop, Benoit Huot is mentioned in copy and no athlete gets more than a passing mention in this article, Missy having the one quote there and Thiago the one reference from the day. I interviewed 10 athletes in New York – none of those interviews have even been transcribed yet (and that will not be done any time soon, nor will the material be used until there is a good reason to do so). Meanwhile, this site does not have the resources to extend our offer to full coverage of paralympic swimming. If a sponsor comes along and backs the funds required to pay a journalist to do the job, we will do it; if not, we won’t be doing anything more than I can fit in as and when. Comparing Olympic Games and paralympic Games does not work, I’m afraid. The two worlds are simply not the same. And if you feel they are, fine … but this is not the place to fight your corner … you might start your complaint with a body with vast resources way beyond anything we have access to – FINA: there is no paralympic swimming in FINA world, whatsoever.
