FINA should punish the Chinese federation.

It’s not fair to other swimmers and national federations that swimming stars and powerful countries are treated differently with silk gloves.

I hope Horton or Cochrane or Paltrinieri beat the crap out of Yang in Kazan.

This Brian King guy seems very dodgy if reports are true…

I posted a comment the other day that I cannot get excited about SCY times and although for a different reason the same now applies for Sun Yang performances. Perhaps some of you will dislike me now but I hope he will not defend his Olympic crowns in Rio.
Game on Mack and Grigorio!!!

Justice

Sun Yang eat vegetarian stuff while serving jail sentence for driving without DL of which meats could be tainted with Clen. Common sense will tell us that he wouldn’t need PED to win a local championship with one arm behind his back! TMZ has been used in past as a medication for his heart irregularities until banned for its side effects or ‘intended to classified as banned heart stimulant to discredit him ‘ internationally of which it is ok if it is justified as a medical order during doping test. Rather ironic when guys started equating him as taking first class steroid in an international meet inorder to win!! Actually he was total let -down by the Chinese federation for failing to advise him to submit his medical condition for taking drug medication during competition and testing. No cover-up by the Chinese otherwise you wouldn’t having a great time bashing him on merits . For all you knew Dr.Ba is physio ‘doctor’ who is not accredited or qualified!!

Craig Lord

Justice – you have to know your rules if you want to make comments like that last one: accredited status at a meet is of no consequence. The doctor should not, in any circumstances (or any capacity), have been working with Sun or any other swimmer or person affiliated to CSA – FINA and up the chain. Full Stop – no doubts. This is not a conspiracy. These are facts. And Sun Yang must also know the Code under the terms of strict liability – just like all those other clubs and programs and athletes who go to great lengths to make sure they don’t fall foul of the rules. If Sun is tainted, it is his and China’s fault, foremost, and then FINA’s fault by default because they should have all been far more transparent and clear from the beginning. The obfuscation in the case was shameful.

Justice,

What you are suggesting all of us do in relation to sun yang doping is exactly what I was so against: treating sun yang and Chinese swimming federation with kid glove and give them leniency, basically a blatant double standard.

You know, if that had happened to Michael Phelps or Lochte, would you have been saying the same?
I highly doubt it.

You said there is no cover up by the Chinese, then why did the Chinese not notify FINA immediately, and the rest of the world knew only months later after a publication told the story, and then the Chinese backdated the ban to allow yang to compete in Asian games. That’s is a blatant cover up as I can tell.

Or does the phrase cover up mean differently in Mandarin?

Reader

Since Sun Yang claimed himself as a “patient”, I wonder what medicine he is taking now since TMZ is a banned substance 🙂

Craig Lord

Yes, indeed, Reader… good question…just because a drug is banned in sport does not remove the need to treat an ailment as described. Alternative asthma drugs and TUE’s exist but not for the medical condition that was described in this case.

disgusted

What amuses me is that when Brian King resigned from Kingston he gave a bleeding heart story about a sick wife who was suffering both depression and cancer (both crap by the way) but turn the clock 3 months forward and he’s hotfooted it over to China. How’s that for support of his sick/dying wife. The man is a grub and SAL have allowed this grub to feed and grow. Surely there are more deserving coaches that should have been afforded this opportunity to coach in China. He should be banned for life for his lies and bullying behaviour. It has taken SAL now over 2 years to act on most of these complaints. SHAME ON YOU MARK ANDERSON.
