He made 22.07.Not so bad(he was wearing briefs), but he needs to step up his game to beat Fratus at Maria Lenk Trophy.

Craig,
he was disappointed!

But i dont think 22.0 in briefs(in season) is a bad swim. But it is far, far off (proportionally) of his fly 23.2.The question is:He rarely trains fly, and does some amazing times(like 22.91 in Open Tournament).I wonder if age is (finally) coming to him, and he is losing his feeling(of his body).

Good question, DDIas… it does happen … and no, i don’t think 22 flat is at all bad in briefs in Belo Horizonte in March … his disappointment was missing the dip below 22 going off his quotes.

Ph

I do not think he can beat fratus anymore.

I’ll bet you guys anything that he will beat Bruno Fratus at Maria Lenk… Don’t forget who we are talking about here. And it’s not like he’s 35… He’s still rather young compared to some other veterans such as Bousquet, Ervin and Bovell!

frankyrinpoche,
i am not so sure.Last Maria Lenk, it was awfully close(21.39×21.45) and Fratus is swimming very well when fully rested(three 21.4 last year put him in a great consistency).
And Cielo is already qualified for Worlds with his 21.60 from Open(unlikely to have another swimmer-besides Fratus-going under that mark).

Cielo always beats Fratus, though that may change soon.

That said, I can’t believe how often he changes coaches. It can’t possibly be good for him. Should never have left Brett- though I understand how living in SP close to his gf and sponsors may make more financial sense…
