Anton Chupkov recorded the third fastest 200m breaststroke in history as he set a European and World Championship record of 2:07.14 while Russian teammate Yulia Efimova produced a sub-36 final lap to head into the women’s final in pole position in 2:21.49, Lilly King sneaking in in eighth place. Sarah Sjostrom popped out a 52.44 in the 100 free for top spot in Friday’s final and China’s Xu Jiayu heads the men’s 200 backstroke as he looks to add to his victory over 100m, Kliment Kolesnikov setting a world junior record 1:55.15 as he qualified in fourth.
