John, Oleksiak has just turned 16.

This girl is truly a Campbell-Sjostrom combo.

I know it’s too late to say this, but be super excited of this girl (or be afraid if you are her competitor).

There is always 15-16 yo teenage girl to shock and go BANG at every Olympics, in Rio it’s Oleksiak.

aswimfan

Le Clos is outright sprinting again like it’s 100. I think he’s training for 100 fly.

aswimfan

Sun Yang crushes 1:44.63

I hate to admit that I think two dopers will win gold tomorrow.

aswimfan

Hagino is fantastic.. I’m glad that his enormous talent is shining through despite having to deal with cheater.

aswimfan

Australia can also say bye bye to women 4×100 medley gold dream.

You just can’t win 4×100 medley with breaststroker at 1:06 high. end of.

aswimfan

I love watching Sjostrom on top of the podium and receiving her Olympics gold.
Everything seems to be right in place.

Now, if Cate Campbell is to do the same, then all is right.

aswimfan

57.13!!!!!!!!!!!!

whaaattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

aswimfan

This Olympics has gone far and beyond my expectations in terms of times swum.

freakin FAST

DutchinUSA

1.5s in 100m. Better than 5 in the 400? The great are truly beyond great.

aswimfan

3:56.46!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

Bad Anon

Exceptional swims; unbelievable times; off the chart? It’s the Olympic games!

Ger

One of the best night’s of swimming ever.

aswimfan

Ryan Murphy looked ominously strong.
Favorite for god now, I think.

Larkin had a very bad long finish

Ger

lol asf, god

Ger

59.3 from Seebohm is surprising; expected faster.

Ger

BBC will never shut up about Peaty.

aswimfan

Seebohm didn’t look sharp at all.
Wilson looked much better.
Baker has the momentum. Let’s see if baker has another gear. Remember Seebohm in London?

aswimfan

Seebohm qualified in the lane 1. Wow.
This will be a huge game changer.

aswimfan

The camera showing activity at in the holding room before men 4×100 is fantastic.

aswimfan

Belgium in the final ahead of Germany shocked me. Shocked!

aswimfan

The Russians are getting LOUD BOOOEEDD

Ger

47.1 for Phelps. He’s in pretty good shape.

aswimfan

So glad Russia is out of the medal.

But a little disappointed with the times.

I wonder if the US coaches going to put Phelps in 4×200.

23 medals, 19 golds is just obscene. obscene.

aswimfan

This is an almost perfect night for USA, if not for Cody Miller’s cheating.

Flyguy

usa can go 1 2 in the 100 back for men. Possible gold for womwn tomorrow. I am excited for phelps now. I was so weary of his freestyle, but it looked great. Gold for him 200 fly 100 fly 200 medley. He will definitely be on 4×200 with that kind of free.

aswimfan

I don’t understand why Manaudou has to look so pissed.

If anything, he should be happy France got silver. It is McEvoy (and Chalmers) who has the right to be pissed, being let down by the two James again.

aswimfan

I hope Manaudou get beaten in 50 free.

I don’t care by whom (as long as not by Russian). His attitude on the medal ceremony sucked big time. What was he crouching on the floor for?

commonwombat

In fairness to Magnussen, he performed basically in accordance with “where he’s at” post op and that’s 48mid-high. People have been living in cloud cuckoo land with their expectations that he would be anywhere near his pre-op level let alone his prime of 4 years ago.

Roberts ….. was Roberts …QED.

Robbos

After a huge high of yesterday, Australia came back down to earth with a big THUD!!!
Only good thing was both McEvoy & Chalmers swimming well.
Still confident about Larkin, but Seebohm looks gone. McKeon & Ashwood poor swims. Bohl & McKeown showing that 4X100 med gone as well. Roberts & Maggie poor!!! TFH very average.

beachmouse

I know Seebholm is in better head space if she’s the hunter and not the hunted and I’m expecting some outside smoke from her but I’m also wondering if there’s a reason she wasn’t used in the 4×100 FR prelims. She’s put down a quick 100 free time this year, hasn’t she?

commonwombat

In fairness to Seebohm, she did muff her start in that semi and that put her behind …… but she shouldn’t be making those kind of blunders.

I don’t think she’s out of it. IF she channels that anger in the right way, she may have the advantage of being out of sight in lane 1 and smoke it.

What we’re seeing here does bear out the fact that 2016 Seebohm is NOT 2015 Seebohm but 58mid-high may be enough to medal or win this. If the implantation of Jaco Verhaeren’s left boot with firm velocity to her gluteus maximus can serve a positive purpose then please do so !

commonwombat

With regards to the subject of the head article, I always like to see “class” receive its due reward in any endeavour; no matter their nationality. Sarah has “owned” this event since London and an Olympic gold completes the picture.

commonwombat

Not really, Mouse. She had no 100fr times to speak of before Trials and was only 54 lowish. Its been Wilson who was actually chasing a 100fr time and posted a 53.9 time trial early last month.

aswimfan

There’s a reason why the coaches didn’t use Seebohm in 4×100 prelims. It was clear during the trials that her fitness level is not as good as last year, and I read some Aussie media reports that her training has not been as good as last year’s.

Outside lane for 100 m backstroke is never good. Let’s see if she can salvage some medal.

aswimfan

Chad Le Clos underwater is amazingly Phelpsian.
It’s gonna be really useful for his fly events.

commonwombat

ASF, perhaps both coaches’ fears about “the relationship” are being realised ? One hopes it is not the case but given said relationship HAS been made public; its inevitable that it will be raised in the airing of dirty laundry should the “returns” be below expectations.

Lynchy

I think Cate will be our only other individual gold medalist. Didn’t Seebolm change coaches at the start of the year?

commonwombat

No. she changed coaches part way through last year due to Matt Brown losing access to Nudgee College pool
