The Russian team for the final was Grechin, Lobintsev, Morozov and Izotov.

Official splits show Morozov’s first 50 as 21.66 (with a 0.27 take over). He said in the mixed zone after the race that he was rested to a certain extent but wasn’t fully shaved. He was unaware of the 21.66 first 50 split and when informed, he said, with a smile on his face ‘I’ll take that’.

Many thanks Ben for setting the line-up straight – like many Games one touch removed from swimming, the Universiade’s results and links service appears like a maze made up by someone who would seem not only to have little knowledge of how to present swimming results but appears to have placed ‘ease of use’ at the bottom of the list of priorities when building the beast that is the official site πŸ™‚ I got it in the end via the seventh tier of the nth tier of drop down menus πŸ™‚

Craig I’m here in Kazan doing commentary so have the advantage of the info screen in front of me that isn’t at everyone else’s disposal.
Agreed that the official website isn’t the easiest to use.

Enjoy, Ben. What timing system are they using… if Omega, I never quite understand why they don’t just let Omega display the results in logical, quick fashion as we’re accustomed to seeing … nuts. Have a good time

Tissot are official timing partner.

That 3.10.88 would have also won them the gold in Shanghai 2011 by 0.12. Impressive. And they will likely get fasterv for Barcelona. Did Morozov really turn on 21.66?!?!?!?!? I don’t wanna believe that….Any official document on that?

The bright spot on the day for the Americans would be Megan Romano’s 52.9 relay split. They’ll need her to do that again in Spain to have a shot of unseating Australia in the 4x100FR.

Craig Lord,

I agree about Kazan’s website.

I had to wander for days before I found out how to get full results with splits. Here’s the full results:

craig or John, when are we going to get spaces and paragraphs in the comment?

aswimfan

Morozov went 21.66, but will he be able to do that in the Barcelona relays when he will dive not into clear blue water like in Kazan, but into churling washing machine water where RUS might not even be ahead by the time he dive.

Craig Lord

when we get to it on our list of priorities … we’ll get there but plenty to do right now that is more pressing. thanks for feedback.

Where can the mixed zone interview with Morozov be found? I saw the race which was incredible and even more incredible the fact he split a 21.66 breathing every 4 strokes!

Good to see Romano splitting a 52.9, giving the American girls some hope. I guess it frees up Franklin to swim wherever on the relay, most probably the opening leg. Can Franklin match the speed of Campbell? Before Campbell even started to taper, she posted a 52.89, which feels as though she can produce a 52.6 when rested. I feel as though Campbell will have at least .5 up on Franklin, a comfortable but necessary lead for the Aussies.

I’m excited for the fresh but experienced Russia swim team. Seriously rooting for Morozov to at least medal for the 100 free.
