From the national records, Cameron went 47 at age 17 and 49.71 at aged 16

Will he break the crazy fast Thorpe 100 free LCM record at 15?

aswimfan

I think Chalmers can break Thorpe’s 100 free record in the Australian Age championships next year. He won’t tunr 16 until 25 June next year. Chalmers swam 50.86 last April, and it won’t be too impossible to get under 50.23 next year.

It’s crazy to have all these young guys to swim so fast in sprints, from Chalmers, to Michael Andrew and Caleb Dressel, because most guys do not normally develop and be real fast in sprints until late teens.

I think 2016 will be a bit too early for Chalmers, but who knows, Cam mcEvoy made the olympics team last year at 17.

Rafael

Aswimfan… we have to consider one thing.. I don´t know how tall Chalmers is.. but Andrews is near 2 meters tall so young…

They are swimming fast, but will they keep up when the growth spur stops? When his height reaches the top limit?

TedBaker

Rafael, that was my first thought, too: How tall is Chalmers and how big are his Mom & Dad?

I have read that the kid has enormous feet… Size 15?

If true, that would seem to indicate that might have some growing to do.

Craig Lord

Aussie reports had him down at “just over 6ft” in Jan 2012… and at “over 6ft 2” this year. Will ask for confirmation when I get a chance.

TedBaker

6’2″ is not huge. And if his feet are that big, it would indicate that he’s got some growing still to do. Wikipedia says his father is 6’5″.

From a physical perspective, it looks like he’s going to get bigger and he will, for certain, get stronger. All very good signs.
