Vollmer’s swim was disappointing (relatively) on the 100 fly. I really thought she would be closer to 58 seconds. I suppose I shouldn’t be too demanding. She has just had a baby.

Great to see her back in the swim of things.

Nice time from Michael Chadwick. His progression is noticeable, and consistent. If he keeps this up he will be a force to be reckoned with next year trials.

Just as the 200 free for woman will be a great spectacle, I believe the 100 fly (for men) will also be hotly contested this summer, and more so (with Phelps, hopefully) in Rio.

I can’t see how Vollmer’s swim was disappointing given that she’s only been training for two months after giving birth. To almost break 1:00 was a solid start.

John, my expectation was not a rational one, as indicated by my comment. From one swim fan to another, I am sure you can agree, that seeing one of your favourite swimmers “under perform” (please note I say that too in the context of time and not situation) is not soul pleasing.

I look forward to seeing her performances continue to progress towards next years trials.

Wez, I understand your stance, now. In due time, we’ll see her back.

While some women can be pretty active through a specific pregnancy, Vollmer has also tweeted that she was on seven weeks of bed rest as part of hers.
