New Gene Doping Test Will Be Used To Test Rio 2016 Samples After WADA Approval

WADA's magazine Play True considered the issue of gene doping in 2005

The International Olympic Committee will not trigger a new gene doping test until after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games but will use the breakthrough to back-test samples from the showcase event in Brazil if and when the new procedure is authorised by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

So, is my understanding correct that gene doping already not allowed by WADA but three has not been a reliable test to detect it ?
