Mireia Belmonte, the Olympic 200 butterfly champion and 400IM bronze medallist, used the other stroke she has Olympic honours for, freestyle, to rocket away from rivals to the helm of the long medley world rankings in 4:35.01 at Spanish nationals in Pontevedra this afternoon. She has not lost a domestic 400IM race since claiming the national title at 15 11 years ago.
