Olympic 200m butterfly champion Mireia Belmonte claimed a brace of victories on the opening day of Spanish nationals in Pontevedra today, a 2:08 in the event for which she will always go down as her nation’s first Olympic champion among women in the pool followdd by an 8:29 in the 800m freestyle, in which she claimed Olympic silver back in 2012.
