I think it’s amazing what she accmplished. 3 individual Olympic medals, 3 time LC world champ, WR holder, 7 time European champ, world swimmer of the year, all before she was even 20 years old. (reminds me a little of Ian Thorpe)

Manadou was extremely talented (I think comparison with Thorpe is quite apt, to a lesser extent) and if only she had maintained her emotional feeling a bit better, she would have won 200-400 golds in Beijing too.

Bravo Laure! An admission both unusual, and showing hindsight of depth, and clarity. Should be a note of caution to many young people with the “grass is greener” mentality, understandable in youth, but often a flawed notion. Applause for her great career, and for the courage to recognize and announce her mature analysis.

It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between cause and effect; Lucas failed to keep her. She left.

Besides it is a waste of time regretting and sharing it won’t teach anyone anything because the grass is often greener.

Craig Lord

Never a waste of time to share experience. It may be irrelevant to the experience of many – but it will surely be relevant to some

Not necessarily so.

Aha the comments. John Leonard about the grass being greener. I think it might have had more to do with non sporting drives.
