It’s not like Adrian has a long programme ahead of him. Why not get a swim behind him and do the heats? The same for Lochte, or whoever was going to come in. Feigen has gone under 48 before and had a bad leg. Ervin was effectively 50 sec. 22.39 for his first 50 was way too fast.
A big reality check. They need to show more respect for the other nations.

Personal Best

I get that it’s all about strategy, but that’s only because it’s been made to be, right?

Sure, the tactics from team USA backfired, but Adrian is more a medal contender in the 100 free and 50 free than let’s say ‘Swimmer 4’ from ‘Country B’, whose team raced full speed to make the final only to, say, finish 8th in the final.

Yes tactics are part of this event, but it would be better to have the best race each other, because we know the BEST team from the US would be right up there in the final. They just have to get through the heats, against some teams who may have nothing to lose.

Personal Best: but they didn’t! That’s the point.

Personal Best

I know, I get that’s the point.
I guess it’s just tough luck, isn’t it?

I think I just find it disappointing that in ‘saving the energy’ of those swimmers with big potential and big programs, relay team success is jeopardised.

Even the playing field; impose a rule, the same relay swimmers in heats and finals. Then watch the drama, haha.

Why is bronze medalist always the happiest?
Ashwood looks more happy than both Ledecky and Rouwendhaal.
