Olympic champion Sun Yang (CHN) clobbered the field in the first final of the 15th FINA World Championships here at Barcelona’s Palau San Jordi with a 3:41.59 victory a relative league ahead the blanket finish for the minor spoils; Kosuke Hagino (JPN) set up a big week with silver in 3:44.82, Connor Jaeger taking bronze for the USA in 3:44.85, which locked out Ryan Cochrane by a touch, the Canadian on 3:45.02

Connor Jaeger really showed a lot of poise in holding it together in the Finals.

True, he nearly did NOT make it with his swim in the heats, but, hey, Bronze medal = You very Good!

I loved watching the race because it was such a battle for places 2, 3, and 4. I can only imagine that Cochrane is crying himself to sleep tonight, particularly after all the press hype had a medal already around his neck.

If this BCN13 is proving anything, it is that 1/100th of a second are going to determine SO many medals, not 1/10th of a second!
