By the time the World Championships arrive next month, Katie Ledecky figures to be in the proper condition to challenge for the world record in the 800 freestyle. On Tuesday night, the first evening of the United States National Championships, Ledecky was simply satisfied to get to the wall first in her prime event.

I was a little too excited about Katie’s chances for a WR in trials. So now, if others are correct and she wasn’t tapered, then Barcelona will crown the new distance queen.
