The most fascinating thing about Katie Ledecky is not her world records and her dominance. The history knows many of similar cases. But swimming only three years at international meets she has already influenced in great deal the competitive swimming and became a role model for many junior swimmers. It took for others Greatest the entire swimming career to be that influential. And she is still a teenager who just graduate high school. Amazing.
If just three years ago swimming under 16 min at 1500m was a very solid result then now to be a respectful long distance swimmer under 15:50 is the must. The swimming 8:20 at 800m is not considered any more as medal contender. By extending her superiority on 200m (during two years only) she became a catalyst that will make for sure this distance blooming. Not being visibly physically or athletically gifted with her working attitude and determination she gives the hope for very many to be successful at their goals as she is.
