The Australian nationals will be very interesting concerning the freestyle races. In the 200m Fraser-Holmes, McEvoy, David McEown, Mac Horton, and Daniel Smith. In the 400m McEown, Horton, Harrison, and maybe Grant Hackett. And in 1500m Hackett, Harrison and Horton, and maybe Poort. And there’s always the possibility that, like Mitch Larkin in backstroke last year, Mathew Levings reaches international level in 400m and 1500m this year. I look forward to all of that! Only wish that Magnussen swam the 200m freestyle.

for33, I think you are a bit ambitious with Hackett’s potential. I doubt he’ll race the 400m, and most definitely not the 1500m. His best shot would be to put all his eggs into one basket and hope for a 4x200m relay berth. If McKeon is to make a stamp on middle distance swimming, now is the time. I’d like to see him drop to a 3:42, if not a 3:41 400m free and a 1:45 200m free.
