Joseph Schooling has becomes first recipient of a $1 million Singaporean award as his nation celebrates its Rio 2016 Olympians. The 21-year-old became Singapore’s first Olympic champion when he claimed the 100m butterfly crown ahead of more history: a joint silver for defending champion Michael Phelps, the American who holds the world record, Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh and South African Chad le Clos.
