Zetao far off his 47.6 best time , hope to see him under 47.5 when worlds come

roy

zetao was born with a knee calcification problem.it may affect his performance at the world championships. his kicks are really slow, but we,ll never know.

Verram

So where’s all the negative comments that Zetao swam a slow time after all the negative comments that McEvoy and Magnussen didn’t break 48s at Aussie trials?

HKSWIMMER

Verram – Ning is pre-selected so he doesn’t need to be fully tapered for this. However the same can’t be said for the Aussies when they face such strict selection times. I fully expect Ning to be in the mix come Kazan.

It’ll be interesting to see if Liu Zige trains on for Rio. She’s frequently been one of the more inconsistent of the top tier 200 flyers, but 2:11, even if she didn’t have to taper for the meet, seems sluggish for someone with the back catalog she has.

Zetao 47,65 still needs to be replicated on a higher level competition.. at asian games he could swim a 50 second 100 free on prelims and still qualify.. he will have to show on Kazan he is able to keep 3 fast rounds. not just 1 very slow round to be able to rest and blast a great time

robbos

HKswimmer, I don’t think the Aussies McEnvoy or Magnussen as fully tapered either as they felt for their trials they were well ahead of the 3rd swimmer. I wouldn’t dismiss the Aussies so quickly.

José

If we look at the rankings for the 100 Free, no one has been close to break 48:00. Perhaps we have to wait to Kazan to see the 47s. We still have to wait for the Italians and the Russians. Both nations have guys who could do fast times . Maybe “Morozov” or Izotov might go ahead of McEnvoy and Magnussen.

Oh dear Roys back with his knee story. Who really cares about the times? Especially in China. Half of them we never see outside of China, could just be times on a computer screen. (Just rucking you up) as for the 200fly girls & Tang let’s just wait another year, not like the top times are quick. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if they have a 100 day ‘camp’ then go 2.04s & 52.

We all know this year is about worlds, let’s wait & see what happens there.

roy

felixdangerpants the only woman i can see doing a 2:04 in the 200 fly for now is miera belmonte garcia.she is the most consistent female 200 fly swimmer at the moment.

Liu Zige is extremely inconsistent. You can see her results throughout the years and they were very wild. I can’t remember what year that was, either 2012 or 2011 when she had to rely on her status as Olympic champion to be selected into the team although there were other girls faster than she was.

CINDY

Liu Zige was retired during 2013-2014 for almost one year. She has injury on shoulders that made her poor training and results. She just wants to fight for her third Olympic trips until the last moment, no mattet how fast of the new grneration and how bad her situation. Maybe her peak form is far away (208-2013), I respect her!!!

While the champion Zhou has been the medalist of 200 fly for at least 3-4 years in China. Both Zhou and Zhang are under the same coach Liu Haitao who is longtime coach with Olympic champion Jiao Liuyang.

I’m not surprised to hear about the shoulder issues. That explains a lot when it comes to fly inconsistency.

Thanks for the info Cindy
