Home alone: Gregorio Paltrinieri - by Patrick B. Kraemer

He had not quite done it the “Australian Way”. This was the Italian Way, or at least Paltrinieri’s Path to Home Alone in 14:43.87, the pace of the Italian 1500m freestyle crown in Riccione today

So glad there is some talent to take down Sun in the 1500, although I’m hoping Cochrane doesn’t get left behind at worlds.

I really feel like Orsi has moved up a level based on his splits and times from last year. I think he can be 21 mid and 47 at Kazan.

I am very impressed by Grigorio’s time. I think he was not fully rested for this meet unlike Mack last week. It is only my opinion and I might be wrong. I now expect him to attack 14:36 in Kazan if healthy and that should be enough to lift the world title.

Rafael

A 47 might put him in the medal hunt.. a 21,5 won´t do the cut.. but he may have a shot to medal both in 100 free and 4×100 relay..

I’ve already written that Paltrinieri in the 1500 free has an astonishing pace even if not fully rested (TommyL is right): every 100 between 59″ and 59″4.
He’s my favorite for 1500 free in Kazan.

Rafael, a 47 high in the 100 (I do think Orsi has a 47 high in him, but not more) has the same chances of putting you on the medal stand than a 21-mid in the 50. Slim chances, to be precise.

I doubt 47high will get you medal. Yes, very very very slim chances indeed.

But Italy w4x200 is shaping up nicely and they can fight for bronze along with GBR and China (Canada would have had the chance but they left Brittany macLean behind).
