European Short-Course Championships, Herning, Denmark – Day 1 heats: new Russian Sprint Tsar in the making, Vladimir Morozov, threw down his first gauntlet with a thud in the last of six heats of the 50m free: 20.89. So battle began; then came a 29.47 champs mark from teammate Yuliya Efimova in the breaststroke dash; and Katinka Hosszu (HUN) topped the 200m butterfly and 200m medley heats to set up the first clashes with another star of the season, Mireia Belmonte (ESP); and 2 relay ‘WRs’ is called when clearly the times fell shy of the best we’ve seen
