Day 3 heats are done at the European Short-Course Championships at the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena in Herning, Denmark: for the hosts Mie Nielsen, Lotte Friis, Rikke Pedersen and Jeanette Ottesen are all safely through to their next shot at gold; Mireia Belmonte and Melani Costa led the way for Spain in the 400m free and the next battlelines are drawn between Yuliya Efimova and Ruta Meilutyte; Daniel Gyurta rests, ready for a shot at a 5th 200m breaststroke crown

Efimova made it considerably faster in heats than Meilutyte. I didn’t see those swims so I don’t know how easily Ruta took it. However, Ruta is not famous for her slow swims in heats or semifinals.
